Co-Curricular Activities

The School Library

A school library (or a school library media center) is a library within a school where students, staff, and often, parents of a public or private school have access to a variety of resources. The goal of the school library media center is to ensure that all members of the school community have equitable access "to books and reading, to information, and to information technology. A school library media center "uses all types of media... is automated, and utilizes the Internet [as well as books] for information gathering. School libraries are distinct from public libraries because they serve as "learner-oriented laboratories which support, extend, and individualize the school's curriculum... A school library serves as the center and coordinating agency for all material used in the school."

The School Band

A school band is a group of student musicians who rehearse and perform instrumental music together. A concert band is usually under the direction of one or more conductors (band directors). A school band consists of wind instruments and percussion instruments.
The School Band, with 25 students, plays at school functions, the annual Sports' Day and participates in various competitions. Students learn to play the drums, flute, bugle and percussion instruments. The students usually make up a band based upon their grade which may then be broken up into sectionals to provide better instrument-specific instruction. It is sometimes required for beginner students to play a recorder for a year before learning another instrument, so that basics, such as scales, embouchure, etc. can be taught easily.

Visits and Excursions

An excursion is an activity organised by a school (not including work experience) during which students leave the school grounds to engage in educational activities (including camps and sport). Adventure activities are included in this definition (regardless of whether they occur outside the school grounds or not).
Regular visits and field trips are arranged to places of educational interest in and around the city. These visits are related to classroom topics and help reinforce learning.

Games and Sports

Games and sports are not only important for success in studio but it is important for success in every walks of our life. Games and sports include all outdoor and indoor games and also athletics. In ancient Greece they formed the principal part of education. In the advanced countries of the present day also they are a regular feature of the school and college curriculum.
Various indoor games, including badminton, basketball, table-tennis, boxing, carrom, squash and chess as well as outdoor games like volleyball and cricket are organised by our physical educators. Students are encouraged to participate in these activities.
